Tor uses the internet.
Your data travels through multiple relays. Each station only knows its part of the journey. Wi-Fi or mobile data remains necessary.
HeyAppPro · Understand Tor
Tor protects the path. End-to-end encryption protects the content. Together they fulfill different functions.
Layers are removed when travelling away from a Tor endpoint and added when travelling towards it. Only the recipient opens the message content. Replies follow the same route back.
Simplified layering principle with three displayed relay layers per path, not a fixed total number of all Tor relays. The dashed circle shows the additional Onion transport protection; the lock shows the separate content encryption. Sending and retrieving use separate connections. Connection establishment and retrieval request are not animated; the message is shown. An app storage on a community node represents the intended storage locations; there is no central server. Replies follow the same principle in reverse.
Your data travels through multiple relays. Each station only knows its part of the journey. Wi-Fi or mobile data remains necessary.
HeyAppPro connects to Onion services on community nodes within the Tor network. This does not require an exit to the regular web. The three app storage locations are not three Tor hops.
The app encrypts on your device. Even a node storing your data receives no keys to read your conversations.
The kill switch blocks HeyAppPro traffic if Tor fails. No silent switch to a direct connection. Messages that are still valid wait encrypted.
Tor does not make a compromised device secure. Content and traffic patterns can reveal information. Complete anonymity is not promised.
